Levels of Care

When you reach out to us about getting anxiety treatment in Spokane at Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery, we will schedule a brief intake assessment over the phone. During your intake assessment, we will help you decide which of the following levels of care is right for you.

The partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery provides intensive care on an outpatient basis. Our PHP in Spokane is one step down from residential treatment and a step up from a typical intensive outpatient treatment program. With a time commitment similar to a traditional work schedule, PHP clients participate in group therapy at Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery for about six hours per day on treatment days. You will also meet with your individual therapist once per week.

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) for anxiety has a significantly lower time commitment than our PHP. Clients in IOP at Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery participate in three-hour-long group treatment sessions three days per week, alongside individual therapy sessions. This level of care is much more manageable for clients who are working (or who are ready to return to work) while getting anxiety treatment in Spokane at our center.

The outpatient program (OP) at Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery meets 1-2 days per week for groups and bi-weekly for individual therapy sessions. Our outpatient program is one step below our IOP and is most often used to aid clients in transitioning out of a higher level of care.

Having an anxiety disorder puts you at an increased risk of substance use disorders. Getting treatment that addresses both addiction and co-occurring disorders like anxiety is linked to a range of positive outcomes, like improved psychiatric functioning and a better quality of life. This is called dual-diagnosis treatment. If you have both anxiety and a drug or alcohol use disorder, Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery can help. We provide effective dual-diagnosis treatment at all care levels.

Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety

The signs and symptoms of anxiety vary based on factors like the type of anxiety disorder someone has. While everyone feels nervous sometimes, anxiety disorders are diagnosed when symptoms affect your daily life or functioning. Anxiety disorders can range from mild to severe, and it is possible to have more than one anxiety disorder. Common anxiety disorders and an overview of their symptoms include:

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) causes excessive worry or fear surrounding various everyday events, activities, or topics. Possible symptoms of GAD include but aren’t limited to uncontrollable worry or worrying more than you should, trouble sleeping, racing thoughts, feeling nervous, irritable, or on edge, difficulty concentrating, and physical symptoms. For example, rapid heartbeat, headaches, sweating, shortness of breath, or gastrointestinal distress.

Social Anxiety Disorder

Social anxiety disorder causes anxiety in social situations. It is not the same as being shy. A person with social anxiety disorder may avoid social situations or endure them with what can be intense anxiety and distress. This is usually driven by the ongoing fear that social situations will cause embarrassment, judgment, or humiliation, even if most people would consider the anxiety disproportionate to the situation. Physical and emotional symptoms of anxiety, like rumination, sweating, blushing, trembling, and fearing that others will notice that you are anxious, may occur.

Specific Phobia

Specific phobia causes excessive and irrational fear related to a specific situation or thing. For example, animals, medical procedures (e.g., fear of needles), flying, riding in elevators, vomiting, or choking. The anxiety someone with a specific phobia feels is much greater than the actual risk associated with the stimuli or circumstance.

Panic Disorder

Panic disorder causes recurring panic attacks. During a panic attack, someone may have physical and psychological symptoms like rapid heartbeat, racing thoughts, impending feelings of doom, shaking, or sweating. People with panic disorder may fear future panic attacks or avoid situations that might trigger a panic attack.

Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia causes fear and anxiety related to circumstances where getting help or leaving may be difficult or where the person may become overwhelmed. For example, crowds, public transit, large open or enclosed spaces, or places outside of their home.

Risk Factors for Anxiety Disorders

While there is no known singular cause of anxiety, there are risk factors for anxiety disorders. These include:

  • Trauma. People who have been through traumatic events (especially adverse childhood experiences) face a higher risk of anxiety and other disorders.
  • Familial risk. If you have a first-degree relative with an anxiety disorder, you have an elevated chance of experiencing an anxiety disorder yourself.
  • Other physical and mental health conditions. Some physical and mental health conditions increase your likelihood of having an anxiety disorder.

No matter what plays a role in your anxiety, our treatment programs can help. The providers at Rebuilt Treatment & Recovery will work with you to set and meet individualized goals and get to where you want to be.
